Join the NVFS Family: We are looking to hire an Intake Coordinator to join the Community Housing team! As the Intake Coordinator, you will perform complex and confidential administrative-related functions to ensure operations flow smoothly within the assigned program. As the Coordinator, you will provide essential coordination with the referring agency and provide quality customer service to landlords, partners and participants. This is a part-time position requiring 30 hours of work per week.
Your Future Team: The NVFS Community Housing programs provide direct assistance and supportive services to support safe and stable housing for eligible households in several jurisdictions across Northern Virginia. These programs work in partnership with other nonprofit organizations, Community Service Boards and County Housing and Community Development programs.

Starting salary is in the low 40s.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct comprehensive initial screening process to determine eligibility for program services, providing intake and enrollment where appropriate.
- Interview clients, explain application procedures and assist individuals in completing application forms for eligibility.
- Gather, verify, evaluate, and submit necessary social, financial, and medical information to determine program eligibility.
- Explain and interpret agency policy, procedures, and guidelines to clients and other individuals.
- Inform clients of their rights and procedures for appeal.
- Conduct phone follow-up, if no response from client referral.
- Maintain client files in accordance with program requirements and NVFS guidelines.
- Maintain current level of knowledge on program software and other information on housing assistance programs.
- Comply with the Standard and Ethics for Housing Counseling.
- Responsible for maintaining certification CEUs if certified.
- Maintain and perform data entry to ensure that clients are unduplicated. Ensure maintenance and integrity of database.
- Attend County Client Referral meetings as needed.
- Participate in regular supervision conferences with Supervisor and provide regular updates.
- Remain current on knowledge of standards and other program-related information.
- Enter data for record keeping and reporting to meet relevant guidelines.
Your Background: We understand that you may obtain skills through a variety of professional, personal, educational, and volunteer experiences.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- At least two (2) years related work experience in administrative support preferred
- Experience providing direct services to individuals in crisis strongly preferred.
- Oral and written fluency in English required; additional language skills always welcome.
- Comfort with heavy phone usage and in-person contact.
- Ability to communicate respectfully, clearly, effectively, tactfully and patiently in-person and on the phone to a diverse population.
- Organizational skills with high level of attention to detail.
- Proficiency in usage of basic technological tools including laptops/computers, email, phones, and internet required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Must be able to demonstrate and live the organizational values of Communication, Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, and Accountability.
