The national Marketing and Business Development group at McMillan LLP is seeking a full-time Bilingual Proposal Specialist (French and English) to join the National Pursuit Management Team (PMT). The PMT works closely with all practice areas across Canada to help the firm win new business.
Reporting to the Director, Client Relations, the successful candidate will play a significant role in proactively helping win new business through the identification of unique selling value proposition. Working alongside firm lawyers from all five McMillan offices, the Bilingual Proposal Specialist boosts the enablement of all activities related to the development of sales driven, client centric and creative winning strategies. This also includes providing writing and editing support for information packages, pre-emptive proposals, client presentations and formal RFP responses.
The Bilingual Proposal Specialist is responsible for the production of all client facing collateral in accordance with McMillan’s brand guidelines and formatting styles, as well as leading trends and best practices. The successful candidate must be agile at managing multiple projects under quick turnaround time, which requires flexibility with scheduling, including evening and weekend work on occasions, to complete activities according to deadlines.
What You’ll Do
- Organize strategic kick-off meetings aimed at uncovering selling features, benefits and value
- Write and edit unique client centric service offering tailored to each opportunity
- Develop information packages, proposals, and client presentations
- Manage the end-to-end process including adhering to timelines, lining up holistic support, seeking peer reviews, producing final deliverables and following up on win/loss outcomes
- Make effective use of MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite to develop client facing materials from existing templates and tools, and partake in future enhancements
- Stay current on industry trends in connection with sales collateral, information packages, proposals, and presentations, including design and packaging trends
- Collaborate closely with PMT colleagues, and as required with other groups such as Client & Business Development, Marketing, Finance, Research and Human Resources
- Support the development of client facing materials for the standard content database
- Contribute to the collection of stats and insights by diligently tracking the status of projects
- Participate actively and enthusiastically in a collaborative team environment, striving for continuous improvement
What You Bring
- 5+ years of marketing, communication, business writing, sales and proposal experience
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to craft creative, client-centric and sales driven value proposition
- Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills – able to interact successfully with all levels – senior executives, partners, managers and staff – with tact, diplomacy and professionalism
- Strong focus on client service excellence and ability to establish immediate credibility with firm lawyers
- High level of attention to details and skillful at editing and proofreading
- Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines in a dynamic, agile environment
- Efficient project management and organization skills to meet deadlines and keep client service teams focused on milestones
- Strong capabilities in MS Office suite (with emphasis on Word, PowerPoint and Excel), and a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, as well as Client Relationship Management software, collaboration space and other types of applications
- Ability to function independently, with minimal supervision, in a cohesive team environment
- Available to work outside regular hours on short notice
