Summary:
The Health Promotion Facilitator is responsible for facilitating prevention activities targeted at youth within School District #43, with particular emphasis on work in the district high schools. They are responsible for developing and maintaining positive working relationships with School District staff and other community members, professionals and organizations.
Location: 2615 Clarke Street, Port Moody/ School Based
Hours: 35 hours per week (Some evenings and weekends may be required)
Start Date: Immediately
Contract End date: March 31, 2026
Salary/Classification: $ 40.03- 50.59, Paraprofessional Grid 14P
This is an HSA Bargaining Unit Position and requires Union membership.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and evaluate substance misuse prevention activities that are targeted at youth in the district 43 catchment, including: Information and/or inspiration presentations, facilitated groups, Positive alternate activities to substance use and activities that foster positive health supporting lifestyle choices.
- Develop, implement and evaluate activities targeted at community members, professionals and parents of youth including Information and/or inspiration presentations, education and/or training and Facilitated groups.
- Support prevention activities of other community agencies and systems, including School District 43, including support of particular schools as directed, and presentations on substance abuse and decision-making related topics in District High Schools.
- When working within the School District, consult with and keep the Administrator or identified program liaison informed of plans and activities that will take place under the school’s auspices, including seeking school approval or agreement where appropriate.
- Maintain appropriate and timely documentation of activities and plans as directed, including recording data for agency or and/other information systems.
- Refer youth requiring counselling or other assistive services to appropriate SHARE program or to another agency.
- Attending youth team meetings and planning sessions as appropriate.
Education and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences. Specific training in Substance Abuse is desirable.
- A minimum of One (1) year in serving youth in community settings.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well independently and within a team
- Knowledge of and ability to apply child/youth development, community development and harm reduction models.
- Ability to support youth in individual and group settings.
- Organizational skills, including time management, documentation and report writing
- Creativity, patience, empathy and flexibility
- Ability to engage a variety of youth
