Position Summary
The Philanthropy Officer personally cultivates, solicits and stewards a portfolio of donors and prospects giving $2,500-$9,999 annually. As a member of the Development team, this role prioritizes contributed income goals and donor experiences, loyalty and satisfaction. The Philanthropy Officer manages the Guthrie Circle program (donors of $2,500+) and assists the Director of Annual Giving and Development Operations in the implementation of the Producer Program. This position focuses on building the mid-level giving program and, when appropriate, secures support for special fundraising projects as identified by leadership. This position is visible within the Twin Cities’ social and arts communities and works regularly with Guthrie donors, staff and a dedicated, thoughtful board of directors. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Relationship Management (80%)
- Cultivate, solicit and steward an assigned portfolio (100+) of individual donors.
- Utilizing the Relationship Manager Moves Management Process of high frequency and high touch tactics to maintain and grow portfolio and meet department renewal and growth goals.
- Connect personally with donors at events, meetings, as well as before and during Guthrie performances to move forward gift conversations.
- Engage patrons by phone, mail, and email to cultivate and deepen relationships with the theater, striving to meet or exceed monthly targets of meaningful contacts.
- Maintain awareness and understanding of Guthrie performances and programs to clearly communicate donor impact on the Guthrie’s mission.
- Tailor stewardship and recognition opportunities for Guthrie Circle members.
Annual Fund Support (15%)
- In collaboration with the Individual Giving Manager, act as concierge for donors who need general assistance by clearly communicating benefits, liaising with box office, and providing excellent customer service.
- Assist the Director of Annual Giving and Development Operations in managing the Producer program (donors $10,000+), focused on coordinating with leadership for timely thank you calls, engagement opportunities, and TGC benefit delivery.
- Support and participate in donor events and trips as needed.
Database and Administration (5%)
- Maintains a moves management plan, including specific fundraising and cultivation goals for long-term, lapsed, and new major donors.
- Write and maintain timely contact reports in the database for all donor interactions.
- Pull reports from Tessitura as needed or requested.
