The Visitation Specialist Provide direct services to clients and their families and for related activities.
Responsibilities:
- Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to our clients.
- Act as an advocate for clients.
- Develop a goals sheet based off of data received from referral for the family.
- Record detailed notes that capture the events and happenings during the visits that we support between parent(s) and their child(ren).
- Ensure that a DCFS Visit Log is completed for all visits.
- Complete a Discharge Summary for all clients upon discharge from the program.
- Ensure receipt of the DCFS Case Plan for the family.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
- Maintain contact with assigned county worker to ensure they are updated with case information.
- May carry reunification cases for Family Preservation work, when needed.
Working Conditions:
- Travel throughout service area is required.
- Frequent reading, writing, repetitive motions, grasping and finger dexterity for typing.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, and navigate stairs on a frequent basis.
- Bending, squatting and reaching with children occasionally.
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. unassisted.
- Tasks require visual perception and discrimination for supervising children’s safety.
- Frequent use of cell phone and computer.
Requirements:
- Combination of education and experience normally represented by an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development, Social Work or equivalent plus 1-2 years related professional experience.
- Must have good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be well organized, detail oriented, and have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
- Must be able to form good working relationships with various resources.
- Ability to work with diverse populations, community organizations as well as staff at all levels.
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License and reliable means of transportation for local travel.
- Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
- Must be able to work independently as well as function as a member of a team and to form professional relationships with county personnel.
