What will you be doing in your role?
- Assist in school enrollment by providing transportation to appointments, classes and workshops.
- Assist in school enrollment by supporting parents in the re-enrollment process.
- Assist in school attendance by obtaining lists of students in danger of being dropped and contacting parents.
- Assist in school attendance by bringing necessary items (uniforms, school supplies, shoes) to the homes of clients.
- Help clients download and access the online platform for their parent orientation class.
- Determine client eligibility based on funder requirements and document in the agency database.
- Remind parents about parent orientation classes and ensure attendance by bringing them to the clubhouse.
- Effectively document barrier removal, follow up and referrals in the agency database in a timely manner.
- Conduct data entry into the agency database.
- Be flexible with your tasks and time to help the team as needed.
- Understand what refugees have been through as well as their various cultural backgrounds, and work to meet their unique needs.
- Work well with volunteers, as needed.
- Meet your commitments and effectively manage your administrative duties.
- Work collaboratively with other Refugee Education team members to support the overall goals of the team.
Are you the next Refugee School Impact Support Specialist?
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Familiarity with refugee populations and their needs preferred
- Good computer skills required
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Bilingual skills in a common refugee language preferred- Dari and Pashto
- Must have reliable transportation, a current Texas driver’s license
