Summary
As a senior member of the Advancement & Alumni Relations team, the director of annual giving is a dynamic leader responsible for managing the design and execution of a comprehensive annual giving program that supports the university’s strategic fundraising goals to acquire, retain, and upgrade donors, and increase engagement with alumni, friends, parents, faculty and staff.

Essential Job Functions
- Designs and executes a comprehensive annual fund operational plan to maximize giving and participation levels as well as encourage renewal and upgrading of gifts and retention of donors
- Identifies and develops new sources for donor support in building the giving pipeline
- Manages a portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects in support of the university
- Conceptualizes themes for appeals, messaging and content of printed materials and verbal scripts
- Oversees targeting and segmenting materials to various groups in the constituent base
- Directs, coordinates and prepares direct mail solicitations and internet giving methods
- Collaborates with advancement and university communications to strategically include annual fund messaging, stories, ads, updates and results in universitywide communications and platforms
- Collaborates internally with the department to maintain consistent communication and outreach efforts in annual giving and engagement
- Plans and executes special events and campaigns related to annual giving
- Partners with the campus community to identify and leverage opportunities to increase overall giving and participation
- Partners with Donor Relations to create an effective stewardship plan for annual giving donors
- Develops and executes a comprehensive strategy to increase engagement and giving throughout the student experience and continuing as alumni
- Remains up to date on trends and regulatory changes in the field of development
- Represents the university at professional career development workshops and seminars, as needed
- Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
- Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development
- Prepares and monitors departmental budget
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree
- Moderate amount of experience working in direct fundraising, data analysis, relationship management or other related experience
- Valid U.S. driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT
