Assistant Director, Emergency Assistance Services
The Assistant Director of Emergency Services will play a vital role in supporting the Director of Emergency Assistance Services in the program oversight and operations and will assume full oversight of program when Director is unavailable. This position will be responsible for making recommendations and assist in the formulation of program objectives, practices, and plans. Also, under general direction and supervision by Director of (EAS), work towards successful implementation of programs addressing emergency needs throughout various sites within the Diocese of Cleveland. Assistant Director will help to identify opportunities for improvement as related to program structure, implementation, staffing models and overall best utilization of department resources. Will play a key role in providing staff trainings, data collection and reporting, volunteer coordination, and supervision of program staff within the Emergency Assistance Department. Will work in collaboration with Director and help to maximize deliverables and impact across service sites.
Responsibilities:
- All members of the EAS Department are required to act in alignment consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
- This position will be the lead for evaluating and processing all emergency assistance requests on behalf of the EAS Department. This will include:
- Securing and overseeing all EAS funding for adherence to standards to ensure compliance with reporting requirements
- Monitoring the EAS budget, the spending, and ensuring all sites are operating within the boundaries of spending requirements
- Managing EA databases
- Providing site trainings on the purpose, requirements and processing of EAS funds.
- This position will be responsible for quality assurance for the EAS department. This will require:
- Assist in the collection, preparation, maintenance and compilation of client demographic data and have primary responsible for completing program and grant reports.
- Work in conjunction with site directors to ensure departmental grant compliance
- Will work in collaboration with Director and help to maximize deliverables and impact across service sites. As a result, this position will also play a supporting role in program development to ensure that we address the unmet of the populations served at our key sties.
- Will work with Director in continuous assessment and implementation of quality improvement measures for respective Emergency Assistance Services sites and programs (Bishop Cosgrove Center, St. Augustine Hunger Center, St. Elizabeth Center, and Blessed Trinity/Visitation of Mary, Holiday Meals and Grafton Produce Partnership).
- This position will be an important part of the leadership team of EAS. Duties to support the Director will include:
- Supporting volunteer coordination and supervision of program staff within the Emergency Assistance Department.
- Promoting service integration, diminishing any duplication of services, and ensuring quality of care, and implement best practices to drive impact in each community.
- Supporting efforts to build partnerships and serve as a link between community partners working towards identifying and addressing immediate needs represented in the community.
- Attending critical meetings including the Cuyahoga continuum of care and other community meetings.
- Supporting efforts to address and resolve facilities and staffing related matters.
- Perform other duties as necessary to accomplish objectives
Requirements:
- Combination of experience and education normally represented by a Master’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Special Education, Business Administration or related field with 5-7 years of experience delivering and managing community services.
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.
- Must have a minimum of five years of management experience in health and human services agency or private sector required and a working knowledge of client based served.
- Fiscal, administrative and supervisory experience required with experience in grant and fund solicitation preferred and experience in a non-profit setting preferred.
- Must be able to effectively work with people of diverse economic, cultural and administrative backgrounds.
- Must have the ability to relate to a wide variety of persons, both professional and volunteers as well as organizations and systems, both public and private.
- Must have the ability to effectively manage a variety of concurrent and varying activities.
- Must have the ability to work independently and be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to coordinate, prioritize and respond to multiple issues at the same time.
- Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must have the ability to make administrative decisions and problem solve as needed.
- Must have excellent leadership and organizational skills, strong detail oriented skills with the ability to supervise and work as part of a team.
- Willingness to work a diverse schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
- Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License, provide a copy of driver’s license, and are subject to a Moving Vehicle Report (MVR) check through the Department of Motor Vehicles annually. Any MVR grade of “unacceptable” is not permitted to operate a company or personal vehicle on behalf of Catholic Charities.
