Are you a finance student looking to gain practical
experience working with a results-driven, innovative culture
supporting business and financial operations? AARP Innovation
Lab’s Finance Team is looking for you! As a finance intern, you
will join the AgeTech Collaborative™ (ATC) from the AARP® ecosystem
team supporting business and financial operations. This paid
internship is an excellent opportunity to learn the procurement
processes and financial functions within a large non-profit
organization. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn
about the AgeTech space and some promising AgeTech innovations and
solutions impacting the $45T longevity economy, making aging easier
for everyone. This paid internship is anticipated to start in Spring
2025 and can continue throughout the year.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include supporting business and financial
operations with the following:

Apply business acumen and adherence to AARP’s procurement
policies while establishing new vendors, drafting contractual
agreements, including Statements of Work (SOWs), Sponsorship
Agreements, Speaker Agreements, etc., and preparing purchase
requests for procurement

Ensuring timely and accurate payments by preparing check
requests, wire transfers, and invoice submissions to accounts
payable
-
Apply financial discipline and adherence to Generally
Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) while assisting with the
monthly close process, which involves reviewing results, preparing
journal entries, and reclassing entries to ensure accurate and
timely financial reporting

Assist in the quarterly forecast and annual budgeting
process

Facilitate execution of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
with startups engaging in ATC’s Accelerator program
-
Ensurce compliance with AARP’s Records Management
Information Policies as it pertains to contracts and
investment

Support the team on any other projects as they
arise
Qualifications
-
Preference is given to students enrolled in a Master of
Business Administration (MBA) program with a concentration in
finance or accounting
-
Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited
college or university; be considered a rising undergraduate junior
or senior, graduate student, or post-doctoral student; and remain
academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have
previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing
education program

Must be a self-starter and adaptable to work under tight
deadlines

Results-driven attitude with a hunger for success

Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
-
Familiarity with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and EPM
(Enterprise Performance Management) systems is a plus

Hybrid Work Environment
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except
