Human Service Worker
Fatima Family Center, located in Cleveland’s Hough neighborhood, provides programs and services for all ages, including cultural, leadership and development activities for children and youth, homework assistance, summer camp, field trips, and recreational programs. Fatima also provides adult services including parenting classes, computer lab, health screenings, and food pantry. Older adults can benefit from socialization activities designed specifically for them.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with adolescents to assess their strengths, utilize case management skills determine their needs, and work together to develop goals and connect the client to essential resources.
- Work as an integral member of the Fatima Family Center by participating in ongoing recruitment as well as completing visits to clients and their families at their work sites/home/school as appropriate.
- Act as an advocate providing support services to clients and their families or employers, individually and in groups including job coaching as appropriate.
Requirements
- Combination of education and experience normally represented by a High School diploma or equivalent plus college coursework and/or technical experience.
- One to two years of related experience required.
- Experience working with youth preferred.
- Must have good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with pre-adolescents, adolescents and adults depending on population served.
- Must be well organized, detail oriented, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
- Must be able to form good working relationships with various resources.
- Knowledge of relevant community resources preferred.
- Must have valid Ohio Drivers License and reliable means of transportation for local travel.
- Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
