Join the NVFS Family: We are looking to hire a Data Specialist to join the NVFS Community Housing team! The NVFS Community Housing programs provide direct assistance and supportive services to support safe and stable housing for eligible households in several jurisdictions across Northern Virginia. These programs work in partnership with other nonprofit organizations, Community Service Boards and County Housing and Community Development programs.
As the Data Specialist, you will perform complex and confidential administrative related functions to ensure the assigned program’s operations flow smoothly. This includes providing essential coordination with the referring agency and quality customer service to internal staff and partners. You will primarily be responsible for running reports and analyzing data. To be successful in this role, attention to detail, expert knowledge of data storage systems, and a meticulous approach to information verification is crucial.
Your Future Team: This role will support the NEW Step Ahead 2.0 contract. The purpose of this program is to provide a higher level of service to hard-to-house families and individuals who are exiting homelessness. This Post-Homelessness Support Services program is intended to address the hard-to-house population through intensive support services that follow the Housing First model and include a Critical Time Intervention (CTI) case management approach.

This position has a minimum starting salary of mid 40s.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct a thorough data analysis of clients' information and storage systems.
- Maintain and perform data entry to ensure that clients are unduplicated. Ensure maintenance and integrity of database.
- Verify and extract data from hardcopy and other digital sources.
- Import and transfer data to a secure central database.
- Perform regular data integrity and quality audits.
- Collect and analyze data from relevant programs to ensure compliance and meeting of benchmarks.
- Create and submit data collation reports.
- Troubleshoot information storage issues.
- Train staff on data storage and retrieval processes.
- Maintain client files in accordance with program requirements and NVFS guidelines.
- Comply with the Standard and Ethics for Information Confidentiality & Security.
- Attend and complete database-related user trainings as needed.
- Support data needs of other programs as requested using Apricot and other NVFS-approved software.
- Participate in regular supervision with supervisor by providing regular updates
- Maintain current level of knowledge on NVFS programs and events

- Enter data for record keeping and reporting to meet relevant guidelines.
Your Background: We understand that you may obtain skills through a variety of professional, personal, educational, and volunteer experiences.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two (2) years related work experience in data administration preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain close attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong data collection and analysis skills; experience creating and delivering reports preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of mathematics and spreadsheet principles used in the information collection/collation process.
- Familiarity and/or experience with databases and/or HMIS preferred.
- Ability to communicate respectfully, clearly, effectively, tactfully and patiently in-person and on the phone to a diverse population.
- Ability to work collaboratively across functions, programs, and departments.
- Oral and written fluency in English required. Additional language skills always welcome.
- Proficiency in usage of basic technological tools including laptops/computers, email, phones, and internet required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and intermediate/advanced proficiency in Excel required.

Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of background checks upon hire
- Work is done primarily in an office and remote environment, but some travel to community locations, Agency office sites and meetings may be required.
