This is a remote position.
We’re looking for a hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join our team—someone excited about building and scaling a mission-driven nonprofit platform. You’ll report directly to the CEO, shape our technology strategy, and be responsible for leading our small but mighty team of engineers.
This is both a leadership role and a coding role. We’re looking for someone who can move fluidly between making high-level architectural decisions and rolling up their sleeves to code and ship features that help nonprofits. The interview process includes a brief, one-hour coding challenge, and the role itself will involve significant hands-on coding (with AI assistance). If you don't enjoy writing code, this position likely won't be the right fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Technology Strategy: Define and execute a long-term technical roadmap aligned with Every.org’s mission, scaling goals, and product vision.
- Innovation: Stay ahead of technological trends and evaluate new technologies to enhance platform capabilities. Meet with partners to understand their needs.
- Cross-functional Leadership: Work closely with the CEO and other leadership to align technology goals with organizational objectives.
- Thought Leadership: Represent Every.org in tech space externally (speaking, writing, etc.)
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a distributed team of 4 engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Security & Scalability: Ensure that our systems are secure, robust, and scalable to safely handle rapid growth and increased adoption.
- Product Collaboration: Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to prioritize features, resolve trade-offs, and maintain a user-centric focus.
- Hands-on Engineering: Contribute to architecture design, code reviews, technical problem-solving, and shipping code.
