General Function
The Group Ex Instructor (Zumba specific) will be responsible for instructing group training classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels.
Elite Group Exercise is a group training program that delivers the best in fitness workouts – Strength training, Stability training, and Balance training.
Education/Experience/Training/Certifications
-
Required certifications: Area of Expertise, CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification (ACSM, ACE, AFAA, ISSA, NASM, NESTA, NETA, NPTI, NSCA) in personal training

1 year of experience teaching group wellness classes is preferred, not required
- Zumba Certification required

Proven knowledge of exercise science, movement coaching, and movement competency

Completion of YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire
Job Duties & Responsibilities

Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed, to accomplish YMCA mission and goals

Asks and answers questions within their scope of knowledge from participants and members

Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members
-
Observe and adjust the approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture

Performs other assigned duties as directed by the Supervisor
