Position: AC Program Facilitator (Kids Programming)

Assignment: Hourly
Pay Rate: $17.20 per hour. We also offer access to our superb sport, fitness, and recreational facilities.

The Position:
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Member Services the primary responsibility of an AC Program Facilitator will be to supervise and implement family friendly programming during selected drop-in hours throughout the week. Some programming we currently offer includes a variety of children's programs and a variety of drop-in activities. In addition to providing excellent customer service, Facilitators will be instrumental in creating a safe and fun environment for all participants while promoting the Abilities Centre vision and mission.
What You’ll Do:
- Programming.
- You will plan and deliver quality programming including but not limited to arts and crafts, creative movement, and sport and recreation while providing inclusive variations to allow for maximum engagement and participation.
- You will set up and clean, sanitize and properly take care of any equipment used during programming hours.
- You will actively participate in programming with high energy, encouraging participants to do the same.
- You will ensure the safety of participants taking part in the programs, including ensuring proper sign-in and sign-out procedures.

- You will be an advocate for the Abilities Centre and its vision as it pertains to physical literacy and inclusion and will incorporate it into programming while educating participants and members on the meaning and purpose behind the vision.

- You will establish rapport and maintain effective relationships with members, staff, volunteers, visitors, and community partners.
What You’ll Bring:
- Education and Experience.
- You are pursuing, attending or a graduate of a university or college program in Physical Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Child and Youth Studies, Early Childhood Educator (ECE), or related field.
- Technical Skills and Knowledge.
- You have knowledge of inclusion, accessibility, and accommodations.
- You have knowledge of a variety of age-appropriate activities (i.e., sports, arts).
- You have strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- You are proficient in Microsoft 365 and have knowledge of ACTIVENet or similar recreation management software.
- Professional Skills.
- You are an effective team player with positive attitude, interacting well with members and fellow employees.
- You are self-motivated, results oriented, shows great initiative, and able to work independently without close supervision.
- You have good interpersonal and relationship-building skills demonstrating rapport with people of diverse backgrounds.

- You are dedicated to a customer experience that exceeds expectations.
- Administrative Requirements.
- You are required to have a current and clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector (VSC).
- You are required to have a current and valid First Aid and CPR ‘C’ / AED.
- Availability.
- You are required to have flexible availability to work a variety of shifts, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
