Position: Building Cleaner (Nights/Weekends)
Location:1 Jim Flaherty St., Whitby, ON
Assignment: Hourly, weekends and weeknights (shifts end 3:00AM)
Pay Rate: $17.20 per hour for day shifts; $18.19 per hour for night shifts. We also offer access to our superb sport, fitness, and recreational facilities.
Start Date: February 2025

The Position:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facilities, the Building Cleaner maintains a healthy and safe environment at Abilities Centre through outstanding cleanliness.
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain.
- You will maintain a physical presence throughout the facility ensuring that areas are kept clean, fully stocked, and free of debris.
- You will maintain the complex in a manner which reduces the complex's liability for Slip & Fall Hazards.
- You will ensure that all housekeeping equipment is cleaned, maintained, and is functioning correctly and to report any malfunctions to the Senior Manager, Facilities, or designate, immediately.
- Clean.
- You will sweep, mop, scrub, remove debris dirt and any refuse, empty waste containers, wash windows, interior/exterior walls, clean and disinfect washroom and fixtures.
- You will clean carpets, rugs, mats, and upholstered furniture.
- You will scrub, mop, and wax floors as required or as scheduled by the Senior Manager, Facilities, or designate.
- Event Support.
- You will perform event cleaning, setup and take down of all associated furniture and fixtures.
- Professionalism.
- You will comply with all company rules, regulations, policies, and procedures at all times.
- You will perform all duties in accordance with the highest professional standards at all times.
- You will perform other duties as required by the Senior Manager, Facilities, or designate.
What You’ll Bring:
- The energy and experience.
- This job is in a large building and will include movement such as bending, stooping, crawling, pushing, and lifting/moving equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- This job supports the health and safety of the organization and will require knowledge and application of W.H.M.I.S.
- Having previous experience cleaning and using auto scrubbers / floor cleaning machines is considered an asset.

- You are required to have a current and clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector (VSC).
- You are required to have a current and valid First Aid and CPR ‘C’ / AED.

- You are required to have flexible availability to work a variety of shifts, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
