Salary: $16.00/hour (approx. 30 hours per week during program dates)

Trees Atlanta is a nationally recognized non-profit citizens' group that protects and improves Atlanta�s urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating. Founded in 1985, Trees Atlanta works tirelessly to address Atlanta�s tree loss, protect its forests, and create new greenspace. Empowered by its wonderful community of volunteers, Trees Atlanta serves the metro Atlanta area, and has grown to become one of Atlanta�s most widely known and supported non-profit organizations.
The Opportunity:
The Youth Tree Team is a seven-week summer work program that introduces Youth to Trees Atlanta�s mission and a variety of �Green Collar� professions. The Youth Tree Team Senior Leads serve an integral part of the facilitation of the program for both supervision and mentorship. This role is for adult applicants (21+) due to the supervision and driving requirements of the position. High school students should look for the "Youth Tree Team Member" applications (closes February 17, 2025).
You'll create impact by:
- Leading and supervise the Youth Tree Team Members and Leaders In Training (a group of 50-65 high school students with diverse backgrounds and cultures) on weekly maintenance projects.
- Being involved in all aspects of the maintenance (watering, weeding and mulching) on the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum and other Trees Atlanta sites.
- Being assigned to 1-2 Leaders in Training for direct mentorship.
- Assisting with various maintenance projects: watering, mulching, and weeding.
- Assisting with the coordination of logistics for Youth Tree Team lunches, field trips, and lunch and learns. Acting responsibly as an ambassador for Trees Atlanta while out on worksites.
- Conducting student evaluations.
- Monitoring smaller groups during enrichment day field trips.
What you need:
- Be 21 or older to drive Trees Atlanta vehicles (must have a valid driver�s license with at least a 3-year clear driving history).
- Have an interest or experience in working or learning about Environmental Conservation, Education (secondary, post-secondary, outdoor), Landscape Architecture, Forestry, Forestry, or Horticulture
- Be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions.
- Preferred experience driving a 12-15 passenger van or box trucks.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with much bending, lifting, and shoveling.
- Repeatedly lift approximately 30-50lbs.
- Have an updated tetanus shot.
