DescriptionThe Associate Philanthropy Director establishes an annual and ongoing strategic and systematic focus on closing six-figure commitments from high net-worth individuals as well as identifying seven and eight-figure prospects. This position will establish and manage major gift program to cultivate, solicit and steward donors and actively seek new funding opportunities while developing strategies for increasing a broader base of donors to support the assigned program or operating unit. The Associate Philanthropy Director also maintains effective and responsive relationships with volunteers, medical staff, Inova leadership, other departments and the community. This position will manage a portfolio of approximately 100 qualified relationships and provides direction and management to direct reports and all employees in department.
Job Responsibilities
- Establishes an annual and ongoing strategic and systematic focus on closing six-figure commitments from high net-worth individuals as well as identifying seven and eight-figure prospects.
- Develops gift plans for top prospects and documents and tracks progress throughout the year.
- Generates the number of proposals necessary to meet annual goals of $1million or more.
- Establishes and manages major gift program to cultivate, solicit and steward donors and actively seek new funding opportunities while developing strategies for increasing a broader base of donors to support the assigned program or operating unit.
- Identifies prospects and donors for the ongoing process of cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and re-solicitation.
- Oversees the day-to-day operation of all fundraising/development related activities.
- Develops an annual plan of goals and strategies to increase philanthropic support. Strategically engage Board members, senior leadership and key physicians in the development process.
- Prepares or supervises production of written proposals, informational materials, gift illustrations, named fund agreements, and other materials needed to secure major gifts.
- Ensure proper personalize acknowledgements and appropriate stewardship activities for major gift donors.
- Maintains effective and responsive relationships with volunteers, medical staff, Inova leadership, other departments and the community. Recruit, train and provide leadership and staff support necessary to maximize the volunteer involvement of boards, volunteers and Inova leadership to meet system-wide fundraising objectives.
- Responds promptly to requests from other departments within the operating unit, and maintains cooperative relationship with corresponding department(s) at other operating units.
- Develops and maintains a high level of knowledge about programs, events and activities at the assigned area including funding priorities and future operating goals.
- Provides direction and management to direct reports and all employees in department. Handles employee relations and staff development for direct reports.
- Develops goals and manages fiscal activities of the department.
Minimum Requirements
- 4 years related professional experience in fundraising, sales, marketing or related field
- Education - Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (or 4 years of experience in lieu of degree)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience fundraising for high level donations ($25,000+)
- Experience in healthcare or nonprofit fundraising
