Job Summary
The Billing Specialist will be responsible for maintaining billing for Catholic Charities of Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton Counties (CCIEC) through utilization of various applications. Ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, and supporting the finance department in maintaining proper financial records. As a key member of our finance team, you will help ensure the financial sustainability of the agency by accurately processing billing and related financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Process billing related to Medicaid, medical and dental facilities, and Delta Dental
- Prepare, verify, and process insurance claims to Mid-State Health Network
- Generate reports on billing activities
- Audit claims to resolve billing inconsistencies and errors
- Input payment history, upcoming payment information, and other financial data into individual client accounts
- Responsible for entering and coding client services into billing software
- Perform regular reconciliation of billing payments
- Maintain financial records to aide in reporting
- Verify client insurance eligibility
- Responds to client/account management requests
- Request authorizations on behalf of clients
- Paneling for HMO’s
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Education: High school graduate.
- Experience: Minimum of one-two years’ experience in admin or billing role, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
- Required Licenses, Certifications, and Training: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of billing software and databases preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- This position is on-site and may not be eligible for remote work
- Attendance at occasional meetings or events outside regular business hours is required
- Physical requirements include frequent use of hands for handling objects, tools, or controls; talking, bending, squatting, twisting, climbing, kneeling, reaching, and occasionally lifting or carrying up to 30 pounds
- Vision requirements include close-up work, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- The work environment may involve varying degrees of physical discomfort and occasional loud noise
