Immediate opening for a full-time Legal Project Manager in the Office of the General Counsel at Stanford University to assist attorneys representing the university and healthcare entities. This position will report to the Deputy General Counsel and Managing Attorney. By joining our team in the Office of General Counsel, you will enable operations essential to the university's mission in a congenial work environment. You will provide a full range of legal, administrative and operational support to the Office of the General Counsel, supporting a variety of litigated and non-litigated matters, monitoring workflow, and managing multiple priorities.
This position requires onsite work on the Stanford campus. There is the possibility of working remotely one or two days per week. On occasion, there may be the need for evening or weekend work.
Core Duties:
- Organize and maintain detailed case files, tracking deadlines, and regularly communicate with OGC and outside counsel attorneys on case management.
- Manage requests for documents and records in response to subpoenas, discovery requests, interrogatories, warrants, government inquiries, and other legal requests for information.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Collect documents from campus departments.
- Review documents, perform redactions, privilege reviews, Bates-stamping.
- Coordinate with records custodians to obtain declarations and verifications for productions.
- Prepare affidavits of service.
- Maintain logs of documents produced, including confidential production request logs as required by University policy.
- E-discovery administration, including uploading documents, document review and searches, issuing legal holds across multiple databases and systems in collaboration with other university departments, and ongoing management of the legal hold process.
- Assist attorneys in preparing witnesses for deposition and trial testimony as needed.
- Legal research and writing, draft letters and other correspondence.
- Review and analyze legal documents and case materials.
- Prepare concise summaries of case information, facts and legal concepts.
- Update service of process and legal document acceptance guidelines.
- Thorough knowledge of e-filing and court docketing processes in California state and federal court.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
- At least 3 years of experience working as a litigation paralegal.
- Paralegal certificate from ABA approved program preferred.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Proficient knowledge of the federal and state rules of civil procedure and evidence.
- Ability to prioritize and to work with minimal supervision.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication.
- Excellent multitasking skills.
- Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
